| The figure-eight on a bight is a good way to tie a loop in either the middle or the end of a rope. It is tied by forming a bight in either the end of the rope or at any point along its length and then tying a simple figure eight with the doubled part of the rope (bight). | |
|
Step 1 - Form a bight in the working end of the rope. Step 2 - Pass it over the standing part to form a loop.. |

Step 3 - Pass the bigh under the standing part and then over the looop and down through it; this forms the figure eight. |

Step 4 - Extend the bigt through the knot to whatever size working loop is needed. Step 5 - Dress the knot. |
