Overhand

As an added measure of safety, use an overhand safety knot whenever tying any type of knot. Although any properly tied knot should hold, it is always desirable to provide the highest level of safety possible. Use of the overhand safety knot eliminates the danger of the end of the rope slipping back through the knot and causing the knot to fail.

Step 1 - Form a loop in the rope.

Step 2 - Insert the end of the rope through the loop.

Step 3 - Dress the knot by pulling on both ends of the rope at the same time.
